The Objectifiers is a collaboration by London based artists Rita Evans and Julia Mariscal, who have been working together in their lab based in Bow since 2008. The live event unfolds though a series of tangible material encounters and conversational experiments. These are triggered by the artists as they move throughout the space activating connections between what they know and what they’re seeking to discover. These material encounters evolve in their own times giving the artists a different feel for each Objectification they do. They play with their own and the audiences perception of time passing by recording and layering the ampliflication of reality using digitally processed sound and image. These are connected via hand held camera devices the artists carry at all times throughout the event. |
Rita Evans (b. Vancouver, Canada 1980) and Julia Mariscal (b. Barcelona, Spain 1981) are artists based in London. They are both recent graduates of Chelsea College MA in Fine Art - which is where they first started collaborating in 2008. Their individual practises are sculpture and performance based. Julia and Rita began working together as The Objectifiers after a discussion where they discovered a shared interest in time, material narrative and object as process. CV 2009 . The Objectifiers.
